Creating a Home-Grown Coffee Industry
JNP Coffee has used its current cupping lab in Bujumbura, Burundi, to provide coffee education and training. With partial grant funding from USAID, JNP Coffee brings in outside experts and, over the next two years, is training 100 women and youth to become baristas, cuppers, coffee processors, roasters, and marketers -- a pipeline of future employees for a growing coffee industry and proof that coffee can offer economic stability to families in Burundi.

The Specialty Coffee Association is partnering with JNP Coffee as the first site in Africa to train students on its new cupping protocols. Additionally, the partnership extends to Coffee Skills training, providing students already in the coffee industry with in-depth knowledge. The inaugural cohort of students begin their training in late January 2025.

Meanwhile, training offered through the Academy serves to empower women and expand youth job opportunities throughout the coffee value chain.
Partner with us to join this venture to deliver transformational results for these student cohorts.
